Write on PDF

Stanislav Mashkin

Writing on a PDF means adding your own text on top of the page — a name, a comment, a filled-in blank. PDF Annotator does it right in your browser, no download, no signup, and the file never leaves your device.

Add text anywhere on the page

Four steps to type on PDF pages, anywhere you need text:

  1. Drop a PDF into the app.
  2. Pick the text tool.
  3. Click where you want to write.
  4. Start typing.

The text sits as a real annotation on top of the original PDF — it doesn't rewrite the underlying page, so the exported file still opens the same in every reader.

Fill forms even without form fields

A lot of "forms" people get by email are just scanned printouts with lines drawn on them — no clickable fields at all. Writing on top works the same way for those. Click where the blank is, type, and export. No need to print, sign by hand, or scan back in.

Font, size, and colour

Three details that make the added text sit naturally on the page:

  • Font — the text goes on in a clean sans-serif that sits well on scanned pages.
  • Size — start at the size of the paragraph next to where you're writing; nudge up or down until it reads as part of the page.
  • Colour — black on white for legal-looking documents; switch to red or blue when the note needs to stand out.

Save the finished PDF

When you're done, export the annotated PDF and it downloads straight to your device. The text you added is baked in — the file opens in Preview, Adobe, Chrome, and every mobile reader the same way it looked here.
